Background:

Canadian National, working in UNFPA since 1998. He is currently assisting the Fund in providing technical assistance (TA) to countries in the Asia and Pacific Region (APR) in the above areas of expertise. He applies participatory approaches where possible in all his interventions with emphasis on capacity building and skills transfer. He joined the CST Kathmandu in May 2004 from Head Quarters (HQ) where as Senior Technical Officer he worked with the HIV/AIDS Branch (HAB) in the Technical Services Division (TSD) promoting HIV prevention through Condom Programming. He was reassigned to HQ from CST Harare where he was Regional Advisor on Reproductive Health Management Information  Systems (RHMIS), Logistics and Data Management. His activities included Programme evaluations, capacity Building on Data collection, analysis and utilization, developing M and E Systems, reviewing Logistics Systems, conducting surveys including Community and Health survey to determine Contraceptive Prevalence Rates (CPR)

Before joining UNFPA, Bongs worked with USAID through Pathfinder in Uganda as RMIS and Logistics Advisor. During the four years (1995 – 1998), he provided TA to districts in setting up RHMIS including developing Data Bases, Logistics Management and conducting impact evaluations.

Between 1991 and 1995, Bongs represented Columbia University as Chief of Party (COP)/ Senior Data Management Advisor in Uganda where he managed an HIV/AIDS cohort of over 15000 in Rakai District.

He has a M.A.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique, University  of Montreal, Canada. He has written and contributed to several papers.
